CONCERT REVIEW: "You don’t often come across shows like this!"
A glowing review of The Rev's debut European show from writer, Chris Bernasco at 3voor12. Read it (in Dutch) here.
Anyone looking for inspiration, or simply wanting to have a good time, The Reverend Shawn Amos is the right place to go. The blues- and soul preacher, deftly dressed in a purple zoot suit, bright yellow shoes topped with a vintage hat, effortlessly changes the audience in Pandora [Music Hall] into a swirling mass. With passion, humor and a couple of short and inciting edifying lessons. The singer-harmonica player is supported by a tight rhythm section and a guitar player with knife-sharp licks. Highlights are Amos’ version of Janis Joplin’s classic ‘Mercedes Benz', during which he moves through the crowd with great enjoyment, and Bowie’s ‘The Jean Genie’, magically restored to a blues version for this evening. You don’t often come across shows like this!
